In April of 2020 during lockdown, Karen founded the collaborative pandemic project The Asbury Park Love Contingent, to remake the Melanie Safka classic, “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)” which was recorded remotely by each artist and produced by Steve Greenwell, in order to lift spirits during the stress and darkness of COVID-19 lockdown and to benefit the Jersey Shore Rescue Mission, which feeds, clothes and shelters the homeless in Asbury Park, NJ. The project was signed to Deko Entertainment / ADA / WMG and their single was released July 10, 2020. The music video for the single won the Best Revival of a Folk Classic by the Garden State Film Festival 2021.
