DEREK SHARP AND THE CHAMPAGNE JAM FEATURING FORMER GUESS WHO VOCALIST DEREK SHARP RELEASE CROSSING THE RUBICON, THE FOLLOW-UP TO THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED PLEIN D'AMOUR
From 2008 through 2024, Derek Sharp served as the Lead Vocalist, and guitarist of legendary rock band The Guess Who, performing nearly 1,000 shows across North America. Known for his powerhouse vocals, multi-instrumental talent, and commanding stage presence, Derek captivated audiences’ night after night, building a reputation as one of rock’s most versatile and electrifying performers.
Now, with his new project Derek Sharp & The Champagne Jam, he’s leading a bold Power Pop revival, fusing irresistible hooks, rich harmonies, and emotional depth with a fresh, modern edge. Drawing inspiration from icons like ELO, Queen, The Raspberries, and channeling the sonic energy of Oasis and Coldplay, Derek proves that timeless songwriting doesn’t fade, it evolves.
His solo debut, Plein D’Amour — originally released as The Guess Who’s final album has already crossed 2 million streams, with strong physical sales and international resonance. His follow-up, Crossing The Rubicon, is already generating buzz among fans and critics alike. Crossing The Rubicon picks up right where Plein D'Amour left off. Rich with infectious melodies, soaring harmonies, psychedelic textures, and intricate arrangements, the album further establishes Sharp's unique vision and songwriting prowess.
As Derek explains,
“I love records that reveal more every time you listen to them. There might be a melody that grabs you immediately, but underneath it are harmonies, sounds and little musical moments you don’t discover until the fifth or tenth listen. That’s the kind of record I wanted Crossing The Rubicon to be -something immediate enough to sing along with, but deep enough that you want to keep coming back.”
Derek’s career is a tapestry of collaboration, production, and performance. He’s worked with acclaimed artists including Triumph, Gowan, Sass Jordan and many more. With his new chapter unfolding, Derek Sharp stands not just as a performer, but as a force at the intersection of rock legacy and sonic reinvention.
Available now on all major digital platforms, Crossing The Rubicon features standout tracks including "Redline," "Umbrella," and "Wasting My Time," showcasing Sharp's gift for crafting memorable songs that balance classic influences with contemporary appeal.
